Importance of Animals Rights

Animals have some similarities to human beings because they are conscious and they are responsive. There are many pet owners in this world who would quickly tell you that animals are unique and they are precious in their own identity, and they should certainly be loved and nurtured. Since animals are lower than human beings, there are many people who believe that they cannot feel and that we should not be so concerned about animal welfare.

There are many people today who do not care about the lives of animals and they don’t see the animals’ right to life that they deserve. Humans are a lot superior than animals and that is seen in the moral realm also, and there are advocates of this belief. Another group would tell you that the feelings, and experiences of animals are much lower than a human being’s and thus should not be given the same status as a human has. These belief systems came from a wrong sense of righteousness and entitlement. That animals have rights will become significant if people will overcome their cognitive biases.

Animals should also be given the right to live in a clean and safe place. Humans have been known to wreak havoc on some sensitive ecosystems in the world like turning rainforests into flat plains and coral reefs into ocean deserts. Humans who destroy the natural ecosystem for their own gain are guilty of depriving animals a basic right to have a clean and safe home. We can closely link the animal rights movement to the green movement because of this.

Using animals for products is perhaps one of the most disconcerting displays of human greed that has grown in popularity. Economic incentive makes this people think that it is alright to kill animals for the sake of gain. Some examples of this are poachers, shark finners, and other people who view animals solely as commodities. It is disturbing how the basic rights of animal life are discarded and replaced with a dollar sign. Viable alternatives to animal products should be considered if we believe that animals have the right to live free of suffering.

Animal rights activities have a strong sense of core beliefs guided by an unwavering morality. The primary things that animals rights advocates believe are given below.

Animals are neither machine nor objects but are conscious beings. Animals also have interests. Human beings should be responsible to respect interests of animals. Animals should not be exploited by human beings. Human beings should not treat animals as objects. Killing animals is depriving animals of their right to live.

The topic of animal rights can span volumes.
